Balto

One of my favorite heroes is Balto, the dog who saved Nome, Alaska. He is my hero because he saved the town when some of the people would have died from a disease if he hadn’t brought them the medicine. Balto and his team were really tired because they stayed up all night to take the necessary medicine to the town. Why did a dog have to bring the medicine? Well, in Alaska, the snow is a blizzard and only dog sleds can make it through that kind of weather.

Balto was also in the famous dog race, called the Iditarod Race. He wanted to win the Iditarod Race for his team so they would think he was a good leader, especially his coach. Balto did win the race and was respected by his team after that.

Balto is my hero even though he is a dog.
