Since the 17th century, the intellectually curious have gathered to participate in salons, informal get-togethers where guests share knowledge, information and ideas in hopes of bettering their lives through conversation.

The MY HERO Project helps carry on the salon tradition with a celebration of poetry and jazz at the Capshaw-Speilberg Center for Educational Justice in Santa Monica.

MY HERO Salons sre a combination of casual get-together and public forum, with guest speakers, film screenings, musical performances and lively discussion. These family-friendly events, which are open to the public, will each have a theme that echoes the Capshaw-Spielberg Center's commitment education and social justice.

Poetry and Jazz Salon

In this salon the MY HERO project celebrates two great american art forms, poetry and jazz with live poetry readings and jazz performances.
