SUPPORT MATERIALS
A
MY HERO videotape is available to teachers and organizations
upon request. The 24-minute video pilot includes former Mayor Rudoph
Giuliani honoring firemen, a young reporter interviewing a teenage
lifeguard, and author Michael Crichton speaking about environmental
hero, George Schaller. Suggested donation, US$10.00.
The MY HERO Teacher Training Video
Mrs. Winston's 3rd-grade class at Dixie Canyon Elementary School
allowed MY HERO to document its successful introduction to the project.
Mrs. Jacobs’ seniors from Taft High School, Los Angeles, CA, also allowed us to document
their participation in the MY HERO project as they created web pages
about their personal heroes. A copy of this 20 minute training video
is available to educators.
(If your class can help demonstrate the project to others as part
of this ongoing educational documentary, please contact myhero@myheroproject.org)
MY HERO STICKERS AND MY HERO POSTERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR CLASSROOM
USE. PLEASE CONTACT MY

National Education Association’s
Newsletter (NEA),
Learning: Bits & Bytes: “Time for Heroic Measures”:
“At My Hero (www.myhero.com),
students can read about heroes from all walks of life –
and even create their own webpage honoring a personal hero.
As an offshoot of a social studies unit on Ancient Greece,
our teaching team works on an interdisciplinary unit on heroes.
Through social studies and reading classes, students learn
about ancient heroes, both historical and mythological. The
unit culminates with students developing a webpage devoted
to their personal hero through the website www.myhero.com.
The user-friendly format of this site allows students to easily
create a web presence. Imagine the look on the face of a grandfather
when he sees a hero webpage devoted to him – designed
by his grandchild!”
