The MY HERO Project is an online educational resource used in classrooms around the world. For over seven years, this not-for-profit Web site has provided a venue for people of all ages to research and contribute inspirational hero stories. MY HERO invites you and your students to celebrate the best of humanity by contributing your vision to this interactive online journal.

The MY HERO THEMATIC CALENDAR can be used to organize lesson plans related to global celebrations and multicultural events throughout the school year. This new tool can also be used as a prompt for students to explore topics about heroes from all walks of life. Students can then research, write and CREATE original NEW stories and works of art about heroes in their own community for upcoming features on women, the environment, black history and more.
MY HERO also features a Daily Calendar of hero birthdays.
These calendars serve as a reminder that heroes are all around us. We encourage you and your students to add new heroes and celebrations to these interactive calendars.

The creation of the MY HERO Virtual Art Gallery has opened doors for the global exchange of concepts of heroism through the universal language of art.
The Gallery provides a user-friendly template for students to submit original works of art, including paintings, collages, photography, and digital media and multimedia. The Virtual Art Gallery showcases original art to a worldwide audience.

Mi Héroe: MY HERO has expanded its global outreach by creating a Spanish database of selected stories. Spanish-speaking children and adults around the world continue to add their own personal and community hero stories to the Mi Héroe database.

MY HERO has been presented at several outreach events around the globe, including the National Educational Computing Conference, Computer-Using Educators, 21st Century After-School Programs, and iEARN Conferences in Slovakia, Moscow and Osaka.

If you are interested in sharing this project at your educational conference, please contact myhero@myheroproject.org.

New this year in the MY HERO TEACHER'S ROOM is the Educator Create Program.
Teachers must register to use this new organizational tool to create a customized classroom index page of their students' submitted and approved MY HERO Web stories.
Students can then review all of their classes' work via this directory web page. Teachers may also use this tool to navigate the MY HERO database in search of specific topics and organize unique directories of content on a variety of subjects and themes.

The TEACHER'S ROOM includes lesson plans incorporating the study of heroes and the use of the MY HERO Web site for all grade levels.

• Jerrilyn Jacobs, a high school English and Media teacher from Woodland Hills, California, created a Teacher's Guide to Using the MY HERO Create Program.

• Slater, an enthusiastic, 11-year-old MY HERO Reporter, demonstrates how to CREATE a MY HERO Web page.

• Susanne Nobles, English Chair at Fredericksburg Academy in Virginia, presents An Approach to Using MY HERO in the 7th to 10th Grade Classroom.

• Victoria Murphy, the MY HERO Virtual Art Gallery Curator, invites you to participate in the gallery in her Teacher's Guide to Using the MY HERO Virtual Art Gallery.

• Wendy Milette, an instructor and filmmaker, explains How to Make A Short Film About Your Hero.

Add your own lesson plans and suggestions for using MY HERO in the classroom.

The MY HERO Online Library houses a virtual collection of books about heroes whose stories have been featured on the Web site.   We encourage you to add your favorite biographies to this interactive library.
