ARTIST HERO:
NORVELL HARDY

by Farnam from Tehran

Norvell Hardy was born in Harlem, Georgia, on January 18, 1892. Oliver was 48 in 1890 when he married Emily and he was not in the best of health. He died less than a year after. "Oliver was his father's name and his name was Norvell, but he is still called Oliver Hardy.

When he was young he didn't like going to school so his parents sent him to a boarding school near Atlanta but he ran away from that. He had a good voice so his mother sent him to Atlanta to study music, but again he escaped. In 1910 when he was just 18 years old he joined a theatre group in Milledgeville as a ticket taker.

Some years later he joined Roach Studio. There he met Stan Laurel. Stan played as Oliver's friend in a movie. Therefore they got to know each other more and they started working together.

In October, 1941 Laurel and Hardy agreed to do a film for 20th Century Fox. Over the next four years they made six features for Fox and two for MGM, but they did not like what they were doing. So they started a comic movie named "Laurel and Hardy".

He died on August 7, 1957 and his ashes were interred in the Masonic Garden of Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood.

I have chosen Hardy as a hero, because he is an example of one who is successful in his life. When he had been having difficult times, he made life for others nice. So he can be called a real human being.
