Bajé Whitethorne es mi abuelo de clan (sistema del clan de Navajo). Yo lo admiro mucho. Él escribe e ilustra libros de niños acerca de cuentos tradicionales navajos. Él visita escuelas en mi área y en la reservación de Navajo.

Mi abuelo también es pintor. Sus pinturas se tratan de la gente Navaja, su cultura, y sus tierras. Él viaja a muchos lugares diferentes, legos y cercanos, para demostrarle a la gente su arte hermosa. Con su arte, la gente de todas las caminatas de la vida, las culturas, y étnias obtienen una una vislumbre de como es ser un navajo.

Mi abuelo es muy especial. Respeto su arte, pero sobretodo, lo respeto por ser mi abuelo. Él siente que es importante que los niños aprendan sobre su cultura, cualquier cultura quizá sea, mientras que no se olviden quiénes son y de donde vienen. Él también anima a los niños que no tengan miedo de explorar sus talentos

El arte de mi abuelo es un puente entre nuestra cultura de Navajo y todas las otras culturas, de modo que todos podamos ser mejores personas. Su arte llena el boquete entre la gente y sus diferencias, así que todos podamos llevarnos bien, y vivir en armonía.

Admiro a mi abuelo, (Shii Chei), porque él me habla con amor y me guía, y me habla con respecto. Amo a mi abuelo.
