William H. Taft

William Howard Taft was born in Cincinnati on September 15, 1857. He was born in his family’s house on the first floor. His house was located in the suburb Mount Auburn. William’s father was Alphonso Taft, Alphonso was a judge. William’s mother was Louisa Taft. His two brothers were Peter Taft and Charles Taft. Peter and Charle’s mother was different from William because Charles and Peter’s mother died. Fanny Taft was William’s sister.

William Taft went to schools. For elementary school William went to Cincinnati public school. Then for high school, he went to Woodward High School. After William saved enough money, he went to Yale University. Later William went to Cincinnati Law School.

William had many accomplishments. First he became a tax collector. Then William became a judge. Next, he was elected president. Later, William became a professor at Yale University. After that, he became a Supreme Court judge.

William had a lot of interesting things happen in his life. His nickname was Big Lub. When William was 9 years old, he had a major injury while riding a carriage when the horses spooked out. An interesting fact is that William took ballroom dancing lessons.

After High school William Taft did important things. First, he became a judge. Then he became a tax collector. Later, William became the governor of the Philippines.

In 1886, William Taft was married to Nellie Herron after several marriage proposals. On September 8,1839, the Taft’s had their first child and was named Robert Alphonso Taft. Their second child was named Helen Herron Taft and was born in the year 1891. Two years later, the Taft’s third child named Charles Phelps Taft who was born on September 20th 1897.

William had careers. He became a court of appeals judge. Then he became the governor of the Philippines and the secretary of war. Afterwards William was elected a president. Next he became a professor at Yale University. Later William became the Supreme Court judge.

It all happened when William did a lot of things that stood out. First he became a judge. Then William became the secretary of war. Afterwards he became the governor of the Philippines. Next he was elected president.

This was his career after being president. He tried to be elected again but didn’t succeed. After that William became a professor at Yale. Then William got a job on the Supreme Court bench, the only president ever to do so.

William was buried in Arlington Cemetery. He died at the age of 72 by ill health. William Taft died on March 8, 1930. His wife was buried beside him.

William is a hero and made an impact in history. William helped the Philippines. William Taft enjoyed his work and was kind to the Philippines, so the Philippines named a town after him. He also negotiated peace with Cuba.
