we're there to show our sympathy ...we're there to show our support and that we care whatever gift is going to be appreciated.

Have you ever had a goal in life? My hero did. He tried to get all the way across Canada but he only made it to Thunder Bay from Newfoundland. You've probably guessed already that my hero is Terry Fox.

Terry Fox was born July 28 1958, in Winnepeg , Manitoba, and he was raised in Port Coquitlam, B.C. He had a mom named Betty and his dad's name is Rolly. He has two brothers and their names are Darrel and Fred. He also has one sister named Judith. He went to Mary Hill Elementary and Simon Fraser University. When he was young he was very interested in sports. He was on the 8th grade basketball team but he was on the shortest of all.

Someone who influenced Terry was Dick Traum. He ran a marathon with one leg. It inspired Terry to keep on running his race for cancer. Rick Hanson invited him to play wheelchair sports and he was a good friend to Terry. When Terry first had his leg amputated, one of the obstacles in his life would be having to run a race of hope with one leg. One of the achievements he accomplished was he ran almost all the way across Canada with just one leg, his left leg. I know that he accomplished a lot.

Terry had lots of character traits like empathy because he put others before himself. He had courage to run even though it was difficult. He was very caring for people with cancer. Terry was very respectful. He treated others how he wanted to be treated and he had optimism to maintain a positive attitude and hope. Terry was positive. Terry influenced me by making me never want to give up and I will always try to think about others before myself and I will believe in hope as much as he did and treat others the way they should be treated and want to be treated.

Terry Fox has taught me lots of thing like for example, you can do anything if you keep on trying over and over again until you get it. He also taught me that the hurting must stop somewhere.
