| Steve going out to the first gulf war. |
Most people think a hero would have to be famous, someone you see on television or on the news. I think a hero can be anyone who inspires others to be a better person, or just inspires them. A hero could be someone who is kind, has perseverance, or just somebody like you and me. My hero is kind, helpful, and has terrific perseverance too! My hero isn’t famous, but has contributed immensely to our community. My hero is a great inspiration to me. Steve Gibson has added a lot to my life, and that is why he is my hero.
Steve Gibson was born on October. He grew up with his little sister, named Tracy, or, to me, Aunt Tracy, and his mom and his dad.
In 1985 he had an urge to serve his country, so he began USA marine training. (I don’t think that was the smartest idea, but that’s just my opinion. He almost got blown up by hand grenades!) During that time, the first Gulf war against Saddam Hussein took place, and my dad was in the middle of it. Saddam took over a peaceful country called Kuwait. Lucky for Steve, we won the war. About 2 months later, Steve graduated from marine training. About one year after that, the war against Saddam Hussein in Iraq began. Steve was sent out to help them out, but just when they got there, Saddam and his army retreated. I told you he was lucky. But the war wasn’t over just yet.

Two years later, my dad left the marines and joined the police force. He began police training. Not long after he graduated and became an official police officer! (This was a little safer, but to me, being a policeman also was dangerous.)
When my sister was born, my dad decided to get a better job that paid him more money and was less dangerous. He currently works with computers.
Steve Gibson has been through many struggles. He has been nearly blown up by explosives, almost killed by a HUGE dog, and many others. He never gave up. He had wonderful perseverance. He attempted to become a marine, and succeeded. He attempted to become a police officer, and succeeded. He is currently trying to build a submarine out of an empty water bottle, which he will undoubtedly succeed at too!
