Ronald Reagan

by Carrie from Tipp City

A lot of people are not willing to help out or do what they think is right, but Ronald Reagan is a lot different than that! He has done a lot, and he is definitely not afraid to speak his mind.

Ronald Reagan was always successful. He was born on February 6, 1911. His parents were Nelle and John Reagan. When he was little, he lived in Tampico, Illinois. Ronald Reagan went to school in Dixon, a nearby town. All his years in school he played football. He also acted in many plays through high school. As he grew older he became a sports announcer! Slowly, his acting career began to take off. During only 2 decades he was featured in 53 films! His first wife was actress, Jane Wyman. Together they had two kids, Maureen and Michael. Unfortunately, Maureen died in 2001. Jane and Ronald got a hard divorce. In 1952 he married actress, Nancy Davis! They had two kids, Patricia Ann and Ronald Prescott. Ronald slowly shifted from liberal to conservative. In 1956 he became governor.

Ronald Reagan then won his presidential Republican election! Only months after taking office as president he was shot! He was quickly able to recover and get back to business as president! His brave recovering from the shooting gained his popularity! He was able to win his second term with Bush. Ronald Reagan was definitely always making contributions to the country. He cut down taxes and, cut down government expenses. He always “sought peace through strength.

Ronald Reagan had just as many challenges as everyone else. He had to go through a divorce! When he was shot in office, his recovering was a huge challenge! At an old age he got Alzheimer's, which means you lose your memory every once in a while.

The main reason Ronald Reagan is a hero to me is because he inspires everyone to try and do their best! He helped many people, and changed the country! He knows how to be a leader! To me, the definition of a hero would be very close to the characteristics of Ronald Wilson Reagan!
