Paul Revere was born in December 1734. He was the son of Apollos Revere and Deborah Hichborn. Paul was one of the oldest of at least nine children. Paul attended North Writing School and learned the art of gold and silversmithing from his father. When Paul was nineteen, his father died. Two years later Paul volunteered in the French and Indian War.

When Paul Revere was twenty-one he fought briefly in the French and Indian War. He was a second lieutenant in an artillery regiment to take a French fort at Crown Point, New York. When Paul returned to Boston, he took control of his father's silver shop. He made cups, tankards, buckles, buttons, rings and toy whistles for children. He also fixed items and took dents out of others.

Paul Revere is my hero because he abandoned everything to fight for a cause. This was when the British troops were going to take the guns, ammunition and arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock. Paul Revere and another man rode from Boston to Concord, warning the colonists that the British soldiers were coming. Paul was caught and let go but without his horse. This was brave because any minute he could have been arrested or even killed!

Paul Revere was a Freemason, a Son of Liberty and a member of the Long Room Club. The Freemasons were a group of Patriots that committed secret acts of protest. The Sons of Liberty were a group of men that organized protests. The Long Room Club was a group of people who discussed the times in the colonies.

When Paul Revere was twenty-three he married Sarah Orne. They had eight children. They were married for twenty-six years. In 1773 Sarah died. Paul remarried Rachel Walker. They had eight more children. With such a large family, Paul had to keep busy. He found jobs like fixing umbrellas, cleaning teeth and making false teeth in addition to being a silversmith.

In 1773 Paul led a group of colonists dressed as Native Americans to dump ten thousand pounds of tea into Boston Harbor. This was called the Boston Tea Party.
