My Grampa at his 77th birthday party
My Grampa at his 77th birthday party

My grampa was born December in Peterborough, Ontario. He has 4 sisters and is the youngest of them all. His mom worked at home and his dad was a farmer. When my grampa was growing up he moved back and forth from 2 houses, that were up and down the hill from each other. And he lives in one of them now and my uncle lives in the other house. He always new that he wanted to be a farmer, especially after his father died well he was farming. So that made him want to be a farmer even more.

My grampa is very important to me because of all the important things he has done for me and in his life. One thing that he's done all of his life is to be a farmer. He just turned 78 and still runs his beef farm by himself with over 65 cows and calves. When I was younger, I would go there and name all of the cows. And surprisingly my grampa and me would remember all of them. I would also sometimes ride the cows and even sometimes the bulls, if they were in a good mood. Not only did he run and beef farm but in the past before my uncle took it over he had a dairy farm with 80 cows. He not only had a beef farm but also ran a maple syrup hut for over 20 years. About 8 years ago he stopped because it was a lot of work to run a farm and maple syrup hut. What I do remember about it was that he made the best maple syrup I've ever tasted and I could go there and have as much as I wanted. One thing that I would always do with my cousins, when we went there was to go around to every bucket and taste it. I'm not sure why because it didn't taste good without the sugar flavor.

One of his hobbies is that he works with wood and would sell some of it to Lang Pioneer Village. For Christmas or our Birthdays he would always make us something from wood and it would be really good. One of the best things that he has made was a chair for me that would spin in a circle and I loved it, until I grew out of it.

In 2004 my grampa also had a triple by-bass surgery which is a very dangerous surgery. When it was over and he was already in the hospital for a couple of days I went to go see him and he said that it wasn't as bad as it seemed.

My grampa, for all those reasons is very important to me and always will be.
