Have you ever risked your life over something you believe in? Well, that is what Martin Luther King Jr. did for blacks. That is why he is considered a hero in my heart and many other hearts. Martin didn’t just write a letter to complete this task. He had to go through a lot of trouble to complete his goal.
Martin Luther King Jr. is my hero. Martin was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929 and died in April 4, 1968, from being shot on a hotel balcony. Martin was born around the time of racial discrimination. All his life he had to live with discrimination against the blacks. Finally as he got older, he got more courage to fight back and get the blacks and whites to come together and stop discrimination. When he died, his goal was reached and everybody did everything together and went to school together instead of being separated. Here is how he reached his goal.
| Martin Luther King's |
To reach his goal, he delivered speeches and got different people to come together and protest through the streets. Some people who were in the rallies were shot and killed. Some of the rallies were even broken up and some of the people were sent to jail. He also made speeches that really did have an effect on changing the racial law. One of his most famous speeches was “I had a dream”. After some of his speeches, his house had bricks thrown at it and some hit the windows.
Martin Luther King was a hero to others near and far. He became this type of hero by delivering speeches and making rallies to get everybody to come together instead of all the whites in one place and all of the blacks in another. He wanted them all to be friends and live in peace. To do this he risked his life, which also brings out the hero quality in him. He did this to save everybody else, not just him, which again also brings out the hero quality.
So now you know that sometimes it doesn’t just take a simple little letter to accomplish your goal or to become a hero. It could take a lot of work like making speeches or rallying people up to fight for what they believe in. Some times you could even risk your life to fight for what you believe in. All of the things mentioned in this essay, Martin Luther King Jr. did to fight for what he believed. It may have taken many years but he didn’t give up and he accomplished his goal.
