Strong, gentle and kind. These are words that describe my mom.

My mom was born in Mexico. My mom's name is Maria Reyes. Maria is a very strong person because her father died and she has been without her dad for ten years. My mom was very sad because she didn't get to see him pass away.

My mom is very helpful because she likes to help us in our homework and in studying. She also likes to help my dad and my brother. My mom became a doctor in Mexico because she liked to help people. When she came to America, all that changed.  She went to a hospital and took all her papers that said that she graduated and had studied to be a doctor. The nurses there said that those papers aren't valid here in the United States.

My mom had to give up her dream of helping people. She became very sad. My mom became a stay at home mom for awhile, then got a job in a factory. My mother now is without a job, but is willing to get a job soon.

My mom is my hero because she had many bad things happen, but she didn't let that put her down. She still loves her country and cares very much about the United States. My mom inspires me to work hard and to care for people; she also inspires me to not let anything put me down.

My mom is not just a relative, but she is also my best friend.
