Have you ever seen a dog limping around, and been worried that it would attack you? Well, Louis Pasteur came up with an idea to keep you safe from these victims of Hydrophobia. Hydrophobia, the fear of water, is a word for Rabies, a very contagious disease. Louis Pasteur invented a series of vaccines to help people who had Hydrophobia and help people to not get Hydrophobia. He also invented Pasteurization, which is done to milk, wine, and many other liquids, to make them safe for people to drink. Louis Pasteur was a very great scientist, so I chose to write about him.

Louis Pasteur grew up in a city called Arbois, located in France. He lived from December 27, 1822 until September 28, 1895, a total of 75 years. During his life he did things to be considered a hero. One of the main things that he did was he created the series of vaccines that you get if a dog with Rabies attacks you, and that many pets get so that they do not get Rabies. Another great thing Louis Pasteur did was create Pasteurization. Pasteurization is, as I explained, done to milk, wine, and other drinks to make them safe for drinking. During Pasteurization, people heat the drink to a high temperature to get rid of germs and bacteria that will make the drink unsuitable for drinking.

Louis Pasteur would definitely be considered a hero. Here are some reasons: he saved people from Rabies with his vaccine, he saved people from disease through his Pasteurization, and many other things. By doing these things he was a great scientist. Now that he’s done them, it is safe to drink many things that wouldn’t be safe, and you are safe from getting Rabies if a Rabid dog jumps up on you.

Louis Pasteur would be classified in the Science Category in the Directory of Heroes because he did many things as far as germs, viruses, and bacterium. He discovered the Rabies vaccine, which includes weak Rabies viruses. He also discovered Pasteurization and fermentation, which uses microorganisms to kill germs. One other amazing thing he did was the discovery of a disease that animals were getting called Silkworm Disease, and he created a new vaccine for it, too.

In conclusion, Louis Pasteur was a great scientist. Going from a boy growing up in Arbois, a small poor town in France, to a man discovering that germs cause disease. Inventing vaccines and pasteurization is pretty amazing.
