My grandmother is Louise J. Driver, and she inspires me in many ways. She was born on May 30th,1937 and is 70 years old, turning 71. She lives in Peterborough, Ontario. She has worked many jobs in her life, had two children, a husband, one sister, five wonderful grandchildren, and a great grand-child.

Louise J. Driver ( then known as Jane Louise Adams) was born in Sudbury. She grew up on a farm and attended later attended Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School for her secondary education. She left during grade 10 year to attend hair dressing school and became a wonderful hairdresser, and she was also a cook at Sears, Quaker, and Civic Hospital. In 1956 she married my grandfather, Morris Driver. They later had two children, and lived in a small house on Langton Street inside of Peterborough, Ontario.

My grandmother seems pretty ordinary, but to me she is one of the most important person in my life. Every month she donates at least 3 hand made sweaters, mittens, and hats for children, and donates gifts during Christmas time for unfortunate children who don't receive anything for Christmas. Right now her current project is making sweaters for pre-mature babies at our local hospital. Also, when my Grandfather was put in the hospital for a heart attack she stood by him every single minute he was there.

For family she has continuous love that never ends. She helped fight in court for me, and helped my cousin get her son back when he was put in the adoption center. She has stood by my Aunt when it comes to her current divorce, and made sure the kid's had a good home to live in, whether she had to fight for her daughter's rights or not. She has also done everything she can to help me grow into what is expected of me, by taking care of me when I'm sick, helping me with homework, teaching me how to ride my first horse, and helping my mom and I handle financial problems. She is always the first one there at my dance competitions, and the most helpful when it comes to getting ready, and making sure I'm prepared.

She inspires me to be a better person, and kinder to the world. She accepts people for what they are, and it makes me think more positive about people, and knowing that I can do that too. She has also inspired me to help out in my community, like when I help little children learn how to dance. She told me that the most important thing is not to teach, but to help them have fun in a good environment. I've always tried to reach those expectations, and it has gotten me a lot further in my life, like opening doors to new jobs.

All in all, my grandmother is a hero to me because she does things for people she cares about because it just comes natural. There is always an extra plate and spare room for anyone in need, and tons of love from her heart. Although we may not have a lot in common, we do share one character trait that is very special. We both give everyone all the love in our heart. The person I give it to, is her.

Extra Info

To help create this web page I used photos downloaded on my computer, and ones I found in boxes of my grandmother. I also had help from my mother when telling the exact dates things happened, and places they occurred. Thank you to my Nana for giving me information about herself when she thought I was writing a family tree. Thank you to everyone who lended photos, gave advice, and corrected spelling, it was greatly appreciated.
