James Delmar Ward

by Kira from Tipp City

My Grandpa was one of the 3 James Delmar Ward’s in my family. He was James Delmar Ward Jr. He got divorced from my Grandma when I was about 5 years old. My Grandpa owned 3 body shops for cars. When he was about 59 years old he owned a café down the hallway from his apartment. He lived in an old hospital that was turned into apartments. The old hospital he lived in was where I was born.

Some accomplishments he had are that he owned The Trojan Auto Body Shop. He also owned Hill Top Body Shop and JD’s collisions shop. Plus he owned and operated 3 semi trucks. Another accomplishment he had was overcoming his mom's and dad's deaths. My Grandpa was a very loving and caring person. I didn’t know anyone he didn’t like.

Here are some challenges my Grandpa had. One was that his mom died at Kettering Hospital. His mom died six weeks after his dad died. My Grandpa didn’t like hospitals ever since his parents died. One bad thing was that my Grandpa had lung cancer from smoking and he didn’t survive it.

He was important to me because he was my Grandpa. One thing is that my Grandpa is my biggest role model. My Grandpa taught me how to do a cartwheel. He made me a Browns fan by watching a lot of football with me. Another thing he did for me was teach me what smoking could really do to your body.

James Delmar Ward Jr. is an awesome person. If you are someone who met him you are lucky. One cool thing about my Grandpa was that he was the biggest Browns fan I knew. My Grandpa will always be my biggest hero, alive or not.
