John Walden

by Alex from Innisfill

My hero is John Walden. John Walden was born in Magog, Quebec April 19, 1924. When he was 10 he enjoyed taking photographs. At the age of 14 he wanted drive air planes. But that didn't happen.

At the age of 16 he went in to the army. Now I know that he had to be 17 but it was really important to him that he join. In World War 2 he was on the running board of a jeep and was shouting. His best mate was driving -my uncle Austin. Then, all of a sudden Austin smashed into a telephone pole and my great grampa John went flying and smashed his head off the cement. Thankfully the brain surgeon was there teaching the nurses how to operate on brains and together they saved my grandpa's life.

August 1947 was the date of his first child. Her name was Nancy, my loving Oma. He had a great life with 3 children Nancy, Mala, and Lynnie. Then on February 15th, Nancy had her first child named Morgan. April 17th, Nancy had her 2nd child, Vanessa (aka) my mom. December 1st, Vanessa had her first child named Alexandra. Alexandra met her great grandfather John Walden in 1997 during the Christmas holidays.

In 2001, in a small town in Canada, John Walden died of old age and sickness but no one worried because we knew that he is our guardian grandpa and it was his time to go.

At age 10 I now that John Walden is a great role model for me and everyone out there that reads this story because John Walden showed kindness by helping people out. He also showed caring by caring to try to make our world a better place for everyone to live in.
