J.K. Rowling

When I got involved in my hero project I was thinking about, who my hero could be.

Is my hero my dad who works a lot every day or my mum who tells stories for Children with cancer? I was also thinking about fireman, people who work with poor children in Africa and even about historically important man like Nikola Tesla. I was also thinking about blind the musician Ray Charles, who gives people hope and inspiration to do what you really want, even if you have some limits. But at the end I decided for a writer, whose imagination brought her from poorness to the most successful people in the world.

She thought me how to love books and read them. From her life story I also realized that every dream may come true.

J. K. Rowling (Joanna Kathleen Rowling) was born on 31st of July 1965 in Chipping Sudbury near Bristol. When she was four, her family moved to Winterbourne. She made up stories for her sister when she was very young. She studied at Exter university. First she worked as a researcher and secretary for Amnesty International. Once she was on the train from Manchester to London (1990) the idea for a story of a young wizard called Harry simply jumped into her head. But at that time her mother died of multiple sclerosis. Soon she moved to Portugal when she got a job as an English teacher in a language institute. Then she married a Portuguese man and she had a daughter with him. After a divorce she moved to her sister Di (Dianne) in Edinburg. She was very depressed and she was also thinking about suicide. But every night she went to café bar and wrote a story about black haired boy Harry. And in 1995 the book was finished. In 1997 small publishing house from London (Boomsbery) finally published her first book. After that she wrote another six books which were sold in more then 400 million copes. And last four books were fastest-sold books in the world. Also movies (Warner Bros) about Harry Potter were very successful. In five years J. K. Rowling became multi millionaire and she supports different charities as: comic relief, one parent family, multiple scleroses …

J. K. Rowling is also a hero for me, because I think she has a big heart. There was a girl named Catie who was dying of cancer. She was reading Rowling's books which helped her to survive in one way. But when Rowling was finishing her forth book, the girl was very, very ill and she was afraid that she will dye before the book will be finished. The writer heard about Catie, she called her and read her the forth book herself. I find it amazing and a heroic act.
