The faith hero that I choose is Jeanne Acheson-Munos. Although I have never met Jeanne I am very very inspired by the work that she did in the country of Haiti. Jeanne served as a missionary for five years there until her death in the Haiti earthquake.
Jeanne was born in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania on July 9, 1948. Her father was the Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene while Jeanne was growing up. She met her husband Jack Munos while attending Bethany Nazerene College. She and Jack were married on June 3, 1972. Jeanne and Jack have a son James. Jeanne served as the children's pastor in several churches before earning her master's degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary in Missions/Evangelism and Biblical Studies. Jeanne and Jack felt a call to Haiti while they were on a missions trip there in 1997.
I have been told by those who knew Jeanne that she was a creative, high-energy, smart, strong-willed and persistent person. She was honest and fair and a hard worker. Jeanne and her husband, Jack, served as missionaries with Free Methodists for about five years. Her husband remembers her as a loyal servant leader that had a strong personality. He plans to return to Haiti when he recovers from his injuries suffered in the earthquake.
Jeanne is a hero because she was the best example of someone who helps and serves others, that's what heroes do. She was a faithful woman, she had faith in Jesus Christ that he would change lives of the people of Haiti. She had a deep love for the people of Haiti.
Jeanne will be remembered as a passionate and compassionate person. She gave everything to projects she believed in, including her life. She had a tender heart for needy and hurting people. This is why she is my faith hero.
