John Paul Jones was a navel captain in the American Revolution. He was born in Scotland, 1747. Before he went to America, he was a captain for a different ship. During a mutiny, his men turned against him. He had to kill one of his men to protect himself.
Jones sailed to America to join the American navy in 1775. He did this to fight off the British. On September 23, 1779, Jones' ship, the Bon Homme Richard, sailed within a hundred yards of the Serapis, an enemy warship. The British started firing at Jones' ship. Jones fired back and forced the British to surrender.
His parents were named John Paul Sr. and Jean Duff.
He is my hero because he was a great captain in the American Revolution and helped defend America. He was very brave even during great danger. One of his famous saying is "I have not yet begun to fight!"
