My hero is Ilie Nastase. He was born on July 19th 1946 in Bucharest, Romania and he is the greatest Romanian tennis player, one of the most loved in the world. Nastase was number one in tennis in 1972 and 1973, and he won more than 100 pro titles: 57 in singles and 51 om doubles. He also played for the Davis Cup team for Romania in 146 games and he won 109.

First of all, Ilie Nastase is my hero because I like this sport which has made him famous. Tennis is a game which requires much energy, force and it also relaxes me. Due to his performances in tennis, I gained the pleasure to play tennis myself and I can say that I like very much this sport.

Secondly, Ilie Nastase has been and will always be a good example, because he is a strong, courageous, ambitious, and respected man. He also has a good sense of humour. One of his most memorable lines is: "If you have confidence, you have patience. Confidence is everything".

Nastase is an important personality for me because he has been involved in campaigns that encourages young sportsmen. Ilie Nastase with Monica Ridzi, another tennis player, has started a campaign called "Romania in motion" with the aim of encouraging young people to participate in sports.

To conclude, my hero Ilie Nastase deserves to be considered an important personality, to be followed by children, who should continue his glory, to make Romania known around the world.
