Ilya Kovalchuk is my hero. He is my hero because he is the 2nd best NHL player in the world, but that is not all. He is Russian and has a Russian accent, which is very embarrassing to talk in front of thousands of people with, but he does because he does not care what other people think. He does many service projects for people in the hospital. He also inspires me to play ice hockey, which is my favorite sport.

Ilya is very strong. Other players usually don't mess with him. He also is a really fast skater. That's how he gets a lot of his goals. Ilya can shoot the puck so fast and accurately, the goalie does not have time to block it.

One of Ilya's best friends is Mairin Hossa. He used to be on the Thrashers. I think Ilya Kovalchuk is the best athlete in the world. That's my hero!
