When you think of a hero you may think of people who save lives, fight evil, and protect cities from total destruction. Well, I have a different definition for you. How about if a hero simply needed to be themselves and that's all they needed to do to make you happy when you're sad, energetic when you're exhausted, or relaxed when you are stressed out about the test you have next period that you totally forgot to study for? To me that's what a hero really is, and mine's name is Hannah.

I first met Hannah when we were 10 years old, when we were put on the same soccer team. We weren't close friends at first, but then 2 years later she got transferred to my school to be in the gifted program! Grade 8 was the year we really became best friends. We spent every lunchtime together, and talked to each other about absolutely everything. I still remember the very first time we hung out together; it was after one of our soccer games and she invited me to go to her house for a swim. A few of the other girls on the team went too, and we spent all afternoon in her pool and hot tub.

In our last year at the school that brought us together, Westmount, Hannah helped me through some tough stuff that I couldn't talk to other people about. Instead of making fun of me she would be able to relate, or just have some comforting words for me.

The thing Hannah does best of all is making me laugh. We have the most hilarious times, whether she's trying to make a joke or we just happened to say something we realized after was totally ridiculous, it's always a laugh when we hang out together. Just recently we've become completely obsessed with the movie "Transformers". We can recite practically the whole movie, and it's always hilarious when someone asks us a question and we answer with a quote from the movie. They, of coarse, think we're insane for bursting out in laughter, but we do it so often we hardly notice anymore.

But Hannah and I haven’t been friends forever. Before we knew each other, these are some things that went on in her life... Hannah was born March 23. Her parents are Kathy and Peter Ferguson, and she has an older sister named Jessica. Hannah also has a pet dog named Millie and a cat named Boo. She plays soccer and also goes to a summer camp, camp Oconto for a month every year. When she's older, Hannah hopes that as a summer job she can get a job at Oconto as a counselor.

I think that if Hannah wanted to be a counselor she could do it, she would be an excellent role model for anyone. She is funny, kind, and very understanding of other people and their feelings, but most of all she is my hero!
