George Patton

General George Patton was born in November 11th, 1885. Ever since George Patton was a young child he had a lifelong dream, to become a hero. Past generations had fought in many wars, the Civil War, the Revolutionary War, and the Mexican war. He listened to the brave and encouraging stories his ancestors had once told him. General George Patton attended schools such as, Virginia Military Institute and graduated from The United States Military Academy at West Point in 1909. General George Patton was a structured and hard working man. He made a heavy impact on several people’s lives because he disciplined them and they learned something. He was well respected and very strict. He did not believe in giving up. General George Patton is our hero because he made a difference.

At the Beginning of George Patton’s career, he went with General Pershing as an aid to fight Poncho Villa in Mexico. During the mission, General Pershing was so astonished by what George had done that he let Patton be in control of the headquarters troop’s in London. Later on, George headed off to be the commander of the U.S Tank Corp. During that journey, he was rescuing a tank that had been stuck in mud and George got injured by a machine gun fire. In that honor, George earned a Purple Heart.

In 1994 Patton took command of the 3rd Army in France. When Patton arrived, he quickly went through France by capturing many Nazi towns and being victorious in a lot of battles. Finally in the battle of Bulge, Patton helped defeat the Germans and forced them back to their homeland.

Between 1942 and 1943 and in early 1944, George Patton commanded American forces in Tunisia, Sicily and Morocco. General George Patton played a key role in the use of armor. Allies advanced across Western Europe with armored warfare. Ahead of any other armored group was always General George Patton. The tactics that were not used were unpromising but undoubtedly successful. Montgomery had often said that Eisenhower has seemed to favor requests from General George Patton instead of the British general in the thrust across Europe. If this was true Eisenhower probably had some evidence for favoring General George Patton.< especially after the failure at the anthem>

General George Patton was a great hero to all of us. He helped the world by his great deeds. George was very harsh and strict but it was all for a reason. People appreciate the things he has done for the United States. He really made a difference because if it was not for George then many people would have died in the past wars. That is why my fellow classmates and I think General George Patton is a hero.
