Terry Fox running (I drew it.)

My hero is Terry Fox, a man who never gave up. He was born in Winnipeg, but was raised in British Columbia. He had a very nice family who was very supportive.

In 1977, at the age of 17, Terry Fox got bone cancer and lost his right leg. When he was in the hospital he saw lots of people who had cancer, so he ran across Canada to raise money for them. He decided to call his run The Marathon of Hope. He was only 18 years old when he started it. He ran 42 kilometers per day and never gave up. After 18 months, he had to stop running because the cancer in his leg spread to his lungs. On June 28, 1981, Terry Fox passed away.

Terry Fox is my hero because he put people first. He inspired me by never giving up hope. He taught me that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
