My hero would have to be my mom, Eileen, because she means a lot to me. My mom has always been there for me no matter what. I was in foster care for the first four years of my life and I was with the family I am now. I was finally adopted when I was four. Eileen took me out of a bad situation. The situation I was in was bad. My biological mom did drugs when she was pregnant with me. It finally came down to this: my biological mom had a court order to see what would happen with me, would she get custody or not. That day in court came and the final decision is no custody; my biological mom choose drugs over me. Why would a mother do that to her own child? I chose my mom because she saved me from a bad situation; I am in a better home now. I’m so glad this happened to me because I would probably be in a lot of trouble now.
My hero lives in Ohio. I live with my hero because she’s my mother and she takes care of me. My mother is always there for me and she always will be. If I ever need anything she can help me out and I hope she will be even when I move out and go to start my own family. She has lived here for about ten years now, before this she lived in Akron. Before she got married she lived in Cleveland, Ohio and went to Westlake High School, and was a cheerleader. She grew up with five brothers and sisters.
She tells other people about this story and they are shocked. Actually the summer before my freshman year we adopted my best friend into my family because her dad was a drug dealer, stole money from his children, and sold their prized possessions. My mom has fostered over 60 kids of all different ages. She is trying to get back into fostering because she loves children and helping people out. She tells people that it is a great experience and the children love it when their day comes to going into foster care or even being adopted. I know when I was adopted my life completely changed, even though I was four years old. My mom changed my life and I’m glad it happened to me.
I think that what makes my mom a hero is that she loves helping people out and changing people’s lives. She was brave enough to take a child she hardly knew into adoption to become her own child. I don’t think she knew what she was getting herself into when she signed the papers. I don’t even know where I would be now in life. I would probably follow in my biological mom’s footsteps and it wouldn’t be good.
This person does fit our class description of what a hero is. Our class definition is a man or woman who is courageous, brave, confident, and willing to risk his or her life for someone else and do what is right. A hero is someone who is worth looking up to. I think she fits this class definition because my mom risked her life by taking me into custody with knowing the challenge.
My mom is forgiving, strong, patient, caring, respectful, honest, tough, confident, and cares for others before herself. My mom puts others before herself when it comes to anything. If she has something planned and one of the children has something come up, she will cancel her plans and run us to our plans.
My hero has similar characteristics as Greek heroes because back in the day people had to be brave and do what they were told. They didn’t have much of a choice what they got to do and how they did. My mom also matches some of the same characteristics as King Arthur and his knights. My mom is brave because she did things that other people her age might not do.
