Daniel Lawrence Whitney (Larry the Cable Guy) is considered a hero to some people because he has the talent to make people laugh a lot and have a great time to enjoy life. He is a stand up comedian that has shows that air on Comedy Central on weekends. He founded the Get-R-Done foundation, which is a charity organization. His organization donates money to admirable causes that include hip dysphasia, juvenile diabetes, cancer benefits, and veterans’ affairs.

Daniel Whitney was born on the 17th day of February in 1963. He grew up in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He later moved to West Palm Beach, Florida when he was sixteen where he went to school at The King’s Academy. Daniel worked at Wendy’s until he was twenty-two years old. After that he began doing stand-up comedy. His very first program was at the Comedy Club in Blue Springs, Missouri. He stood up on amateur nights with the encouragement from friends and coworkers. In 1991 he began doing radio comedy, where he could call into stations as fictional characters. The “Larry” character started after a friend from a radio station asked him to call in as a cable installer. To further his career in comedy, the syndicated radio show “The Ron and Ron Show” led to Whitney joining the successful Blue Collar Comedy Tour in 2000.

Daniel Lawrence Whitney is gifted with the talent to make people laugh and enjoy life. He has been naturally funny his whole life, and continues to humor people and make their lives funny and happier. He has been on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour for almost 10 years now. He has been a big hit to America. Lots of people admire him and want to here more and more from him. It gets hard to make people laugh a lot these days. People are busy and always doing something. People stop and sit down to watch his show on Comedy Central. He is just a good down to earth person that cares for everyone and wants everyone to be happy.

The Get-R-Done foundation has donated Millions to charity foundations all over the world. On December 21, 2009, the Get-R-Done foundation donated $1.2 Million to develop the Alexis Verzal Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital at Madonna. This was to help develop a new 14-bed children’s rehabilitation center within the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. The Foundation also donated $1 Million to the Child Advocacy Center on August 4, 2009. This donation was to build a new facility. Dan also makes smaller donations by himself. He was on “Are you smarter than a fifth grader” (The celebrity version). Dan’s life-long friend and fellow blue comic, host the show. Dan won $300,000 on the show and he donated it to the Arnold Palmer Foundation for the research of hip dysphasia.

Here is a quote from someone that has met Daniel in real life and what they thought of him. “Like it or not, Larry is a human being with feelings as are we all!!! Yes it’s true he really is Dan Whitney but that is his away from the spotlight life and it’s necessary. I met Dan in the Wal-mart in Sanford, FL. And he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was picking up some groceries and stopped for a moment when I ask him if I could ask him a personal question. When I asked him if he had to call 411 Information to get the # for 911, he replied in his stage voice 'The Funny thing is that I had to write it on the wall with a strawberry.'” Dan Whitney is overall a great caring and loving person. I chose him to be a hero because he is a friend to everyone, and helps people out before he does anything for himself.
