Don Manuel

Don Manuel was born in Coatepec, Veracruz. He lives there with his wife and daughter and he works as a building worker.

Don Manuel had an alcoholism problem for ten years which got him into trouble. When he hit the bottom he realized this was not the kind of life he wanted for him and his family, so he started fighting against his addiction.

He has been sober for five years and now he helps other people, in a supporting group he leads, to overcome their addictions.

Don Manuel is our hero because he is a survivor and, even though he is poor, he dedicates great part of his time to help other people to see the light again. This teaches us that you don't have to be rich to do important things in life.

This is the kind of person who makes humanity go forward to a better future.
