Daniel Beard

Daniel Beard was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1850. He had a mom named Mary and a dad named Julian. He had two sisters. When Daniel was 11 in 1861 his dad joined the Union Army. In 1861 he moved to Kentucky. Daniel and his gang pretended to be pioneers.

Daniel settled down and got married and had a wife named Mary. He also had two daughters.

In 1889 Daniel Beard worked for Mark Twain as an illustrator. He also trained as an engineer and was a surveyor. In 1905 he edited a magazine called Recreation. He started The Sons of Daniel Boone.

In 1905 people were moving from the country to the city life to work in factories.

Daniel Beard merged his Sons of Daniel Boone with the Boy Scouts of America and made the American Boy's Handy Book. Daniel Beard was a great man. He also loved nature.
