| Jimmy Carter when President (www.google.com) |
My vision of a hero is someone who does great things to help humanity and gives money or other items to charity. A man that fits that profile is Jimmy Carter. During his term as president, he was able to reach out to the poor people even outside our country. He has helped them build houses especially those poor people that live in the Third World countries.
Jimmy Carter is a generous and helpful person. For example, he always tries to help the poor and needy. He builds houses for people that lost everything during a tragedy. Jimmy Carter also wants to make the world a better place for everybody. To increase human and social services, he created the Department of Education, bolstered the Social Security system, and appointed record numbers of women, blacks, and Hispanics to government jobs.
Jimmy Carter was born in Plains, Georgia. "Politics, peanut farming, and devotion to the Baptist faith were mainstays of his upbringing." After graduation in 1946 from Naval Academy, Carter married Rosalyn Smith. The Carters have three sons and a daughter. They are John William, James Earl III, Donnel Jeffrey and Amy Lynn. Carter can be credited with a number of achievements in domestic affairs. "He worked hard to combat the continuing economic woes of inflation and unemployment. By the end of his term, he could claim an increase of nearly eight million jobs and a decrease in budget deficit."
My hero Jimmy Carter was born on October 1,1924 and is still alive today. He is more of an old-fashioned person, so he dresses simply like he did in the 80’s. He remained friendly to the people he was dealing with. Since leaving the office, he has remained active serving international missions. He says, “Conflicts must be resolved through negotiation, cooperation based on international law, respect for human rights, and economic development.”
Jimmy Carter is important to me because he is kind and feels deeply for the poor in the society. For example, he gives tremendous support to the needy. Furthermore, he builds houses for the poor. Jimmy Carter is also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that helps needy people in the US and in other countries renovate and build homes for themselves. Thus, he is a true hero.
