Ben Franklin is my hero. A hero to me is someone who is smart and an inventor, someone who knows what is right and what is wrong. Someone who is courageous.

Benjamin Franklin was an inventor. He made the glass armonica. Benjamin Franklin had trouble with glasses. He had reading glasses and one for seeing things far away. It was hard because he didn't have two glasses in one so Ben invented the bifocals. Bifocals are lenses for both far vision and reading combined into one pair of glasses. Millions of people wore bifocals in those days and even today. The Franklin stove is an iron box that fits into the fireplace. It is more fuel-efficient than an open hearth. Air is heated as it flows through the chambers of the box and then exits through the side panels.

Benjamin Franklin loved books when he was young. He also taught himself how to swim. He was very good at swimming. He would try to do some tricks like holding a foot and swimming or swimming with a flying kite.

He is courageous because he made a kite with a metal rod and a metal key on a rainy day. In his jacket he had a glass half filled with water. He flew the kite and lightning struck closer. The kite's metal rod was nearly touching the clouds; electricity touched the metal rod and then the metal key and when Ben touched the key he felt a tingle. Then he got shocked but he was still alive. He took the glass in his jacket and took the metal key and touched it on the metal rod on top of the glass. The electricity was flashing on the metal rod on the glass and into the water in the glass.

I look up to Benjamin Franklin because I like to invent things and I want to learn from him and be a little more courageous. That is why Benjamin Franklin is my hero.
