The study of heroes applies across the curriculum in all grade levels. It can be an integral part of character education, media arts and computer literacy and a tool for reading comprehension and the development of writing skills. MY HERO can be used to enrich thematic studies in the arts and sciences.
Join us at NECC! Please join MY HERO at the 29th Annual National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) in San Antonio, Texas June 29 through July 2 to learn and exchange best practices in educational technology. We will be hosting a poster session and workshop at this event.
Cheikh Darou Seck
Meet Cheikh Darou Seck, an English teacher at Martin Luther King Girls School in Dakar, Senegal, filmmaker, and one of our Global Exchange partners.
We first met Cheikh at the iEARN conference in Slovakia in 2004. He is a passionate filmmaker dedicated to capturing Senegalese heroes on film to share with the global community.
His enthusiasm for digital storytelling has inspired his students to begin making films of their own. Cheikh encourages his students to look for the positive in people, and to believe in themselves and their power to make a difference.
View his Best of Fest 2005 film The Bird Maker.
