Festival Information
Film Categories
You may enter as:
- Student
- Elementary School
- Middle School
- High School
- College/Graduate School
- Amateur (adults)
- Professional
People of all ages are encouraged to enter the competition.
Rules and Guidelines
- All work must be original.
- Only films 5 minutes and under will be accepted.
- Acceptable film formats:
- DV (mini DV or DV Cam)
- DVD or CD (Mpeg or QuickTime movie files only)
- Complete the required entry and release/consent forms to submit with your film.
- Now accepting entries for annual competition.
- A panel of judges will review the films and award individuals or classes in each of the following categories:
- Elementary School
- Middle School
- High School
- College/Graduate School
- Amateur
- Professional
- Winners will receive a prize. Awards will be given to all finalists. Selected works will be featured on the MY HERO web site throughout the year.
Rights & Clearances
By submitting your film to MY HERO, you grant MY HERO permission and rights to publish selected screenshots from your work on the MY HERO Web site and in promotional materials. You also grant MY HERO non-exclusive rights to use selected screenshots in all media.
Fees
- Amateurs : $15.00
- Professionals : $20.00
- Students : $10.00
There is no fee for students from schools outside of the United States.
Your entry fee may be waived if you or your school are unable to pay the fee.
Please contact MY HERO at myhero@myheroproject.org about a fee waiver.
Payments should be made to the MY HERO Project.
Prizes
The winner of the MY HERO Short Film Festival will recieve an airline ticket and hotel accomodation to attend a award ceremony in Los Angeles. Winners will also recieve equipment and software and T-shirt prizes.
