Adams Sie
Created by Cheikh Darou Seck

Cheikh Darou Seck says:

My new film, Adams Sie, talks about part of the life and works of a young Senegalese filmmaker who raises awareness of difficult and complex social issues (such as alcohol abuse, child sexual abuse, and female genital mutilation) that need to be banned from our ways. But because some of these aspects are integral parts of our culture, a certain level of understanding needs to be reached by the community, which explains the importance and heroism of the films of Adams Sie. In fact, he is one the rare filmmakers interested in the education and the improvement of the ways of the community.

About Cheikh Darou Seck
Cheikh says:

I am a Senegalese English teacher living in Dakar. The Bird Maker, the first film I ever produced and submitted to the MY HERO Film Festival, was awarded Best of Fest in 2005. In fact, I am a typical product of The MY HERO Project in terms of filmmaking and media production. I have produced movies such as Mother Mary, Noguchi and Adams Sie, and I train my students to become filmmakers and reporters. Today, I cannot picture my life outside my filmmaking activities.

My career as a filmmaker started in 2005 when Jeanne Meyers told me about The MY HERO Film Festival. She informed me about the rules and helped me get a video camera, and develop my talents as a filmmaker.
