One of the finest eye surgeons on the planet, Dr. Sanduk Ruit, has devoted his life to helping people to see, especially people who cannot afford eye care. Light of the Himalaya follows native Neplai, Dr. Ruit and Dr. Geoff Tabin from the US as they do many sight restoring cataract surgeries in remote Nepal. Dr. Tabin and orderlies from the remote clinics (mountaineers) go on to climb a spectacular Himalayan peak.

 
About Michael Brown

Michael Brown is an award-winning filmmaker with more than 25 films to his directing credit. His best known film is Farther Than the Eye Can See, about Blind Climber Erik Weihenmayers ascent of Mount Everest. Michael is currently co-directing Return to Everest IMAX in 3D. He has stood on top of Everest four times while making films. Michaels films are often made in the high mountains and they always include a giving-back theme, whether it is eye surgeries, schools, hospitals, environmental or disability organizations.
