Now that i'm 13 i can still remeber it like I just read it yesterday.I haven't seen the movie yet, but that will be something I will have to check it out.I really enjoyed this book because Ruby was so brave, I mean every day she had to go face all those angry people. Not knowing if they would try to beat up the U.S Marshells.

Ms.Ruby Bridges-Hall is a huge inspiration to me as a teen who is both white and black it's hard to fit in and make friends.I sometimes wish that there were marshalls who were with me at times, but since there's not it's good to know i'm not the only one who went thru these things. Thanks for making it easier for a girl who just wants to fit in.

I think that you are a really good role model for people in that time (1960's).  I am glad that the marshals were there to walk you to school. I love the book Through My Eyes I read it for a reseach paper for school and it was really good.  You made a big difference in people and schools today.

I am amazed at what Ruby had to go through.  She was very brave to go to an all-white school.  I am glad to have African-American children in my school together.
Katelynn Walls | 2/2/2006 3:14 AM
I think that that story is very nice. I like that she had to go to a white school  and she was one of the first. I didn't like that all the parents of the children wanted to kill her or hurt. But she was not bothered at all. So i am just saying that Ruby Bridges is my hero.

            THANK YOU RUBY BRIDGES

Marcus | 1/21/2006 8:52 AM
The book was really good.
It tells you a lot about Ruby Bridges. If I was a classmate of Ruby Bridges, I would be nicer to her.
The book tells you about the bad relations between black people and white people.
There were separate schools, separate jobs, separate stores for black people and for white people and they couldn't do the same things.

Sasha | 1/21/2006 4:16 AM
You have a lot of courage and I look up to you. You are my hero!!!
Gina | 12/17/2005 4:44 AM
I think that Ruby Bridges was brave to integrate the schools and that everyone should know about her. I would have been scared but she just marched in like a soldier. She is one of the bravest people I know and I know a lot of brave people. Ruby Bridges should have an award.

The story was great. Ruby Bridges made her parents and black folks proud because she held on despite the oppositions she faced.

Were it not for Ruby Bridges, white children and black children would still be attending different schools.
Also, I like how she held herself while passing through the angry mob. Instead of talking back she prayed for them.
Edwidge Etienne | 8/14/2005 11:42 PM
If it wasn't for Ruby Bridges's courage and bravery, segregation would still be happening.
Christopher Henry | 8/14/2005 11:40 PM
Ruby Bridges is a good person because she prayed for people who were mean to her and whom said bad things to her because of her color.
allison | 5/5/2005 3:46 AM
ruby bridges inspired me in 4th grade so i did a puppet report on her. i had sent her a letter before i presented my report, and she sent me a letter back! i was so excited, i went to school and showed my teacher right away. to this day, i still carry that letter every where i go.
ruby bridges is my hero and will remain my hero.

Jasmine Crockett | 2/20/2005 6:07 AM
Ruby is my favorite person because she is kind, brave ,and is a nice person. I know that most people in the world know her and love her. The story about her really inspires me because at that time black people couldent do some things, but she changed that.
Alexis Scott | 2/18/2005 1:43 PM
I think the book is very courageous because for a little girl, at six years old, to go in a school, knowing that most of the parents dont accept that she is black, marches in so strong without crying or anything. I know that if I was that little girl I wouldn't have been as brave.
Nelisha Gray | 2/18/2005 3:12 AM
I love that book. We have it at home and I read all the time over and over and over again and I never get tired of reading it. I always read it to my 5-year-old sister and my 7-year-old sister for a bedtime story.
She has done so much for us. Probaly more than she thought when she was that young going to that "all-white" school.  Thanks to her, people from every different kind of race can come together to a school. Thanks Ruby Bridges!! :)

can you pleas tell me what prayer Ruby said befor she walked into her school?

In a PBS interview with Ruby Bridges, she said she does not remember the actual prayer, but she does remember praying for the people who were mean to her.  To read the full text of the interview, go to http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/race_relations/jan-june97/bridges_2-18.html.

Ruby Bridges is a great person. She is my favorite hero. People would have to be crazy not to learn about her!!! well I think people were unjust. i am Mexican and i would hate if people did that to me. i love reading books about her. As i said before she is my hero!!!

I love this book. I think that she should be known as a better hero. More people should know about her. She had strength.
Margaret Salazar | 5/18/2004 11:30 AM
This book was a GREAT book! It must have taken A LOT of courage and bravery to actually go into an all white school! I would have never dreamed of doing what she did. She is my hero!
christina taylor | 5/16/2004 12:42 AM
I think the book was very good.  What a bad experience to go through. Other people would have quit, but not Ruby. She was a brave little girl.
Marquita Birth | 4/6/2004 6:13 AM
I like this book. It was very interesting. I also like the thing she did on going to an all white school. I couldn't have done it. If I wasn't wanted in a place, I wouldn't bother to go.
Rafael and Kalama | 3/29/2004 8:17 AM

I am from Brooklyn and during black history month I went to school and my teacher read this book to our class. I  really actually paid attention. I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Maranda Smith | 2/17/2004 7:53 AM
I really loved this book. It touched my heart in a special place. I am really glad that we have people like Ruby Bridges to care. Many people still do not care but I am really glad that she did.  I love her book so much that I read it everyday before school and any other time I can read it. Ruby Bridges was a very brave little girl. If I was her, I would have been so scared to go to an all white school during those times, because I wouldn't want to be somewhere if I really was not wanted there.

Ruby Bridges was a brave little girl who had a lot of heart! Her parents were very proud or her for doing something like that.... she was the first black girl who ever went to a white school... i admire her so much.. she is very very BRAVE!!!!

Wonderful book.  I am doing a project on Ruby Bridges because she is  one of my heroes.
Jazzie | 2/11/2004 8:58 AM
I think Ruby bridges is a great hero for us kids because she is brave and made a difference in our world.  No one will be like her.  The greatest thing is that she is a kid just like us, and fought for civil right for black kids like myself. We are all thankful that she was so smart and talented, or else I would be going to a all black school not living my full potental. Ruby if you are reading thanks for everything!
Laci | 2/10/2004 10:40 AM

I love your book and I saw your movie. Thanks for making history, Ruby. We all love you. Thanks for caring. It must have been a hard life doing things many black people wouldn't normally do in those times, but you were determined to do it and learn what you needed to know. Thanks, Ruby, and best wishes from all of us. Class 328
