I use Dorothy Dandridges' life to help me perservere in mine. Singing is not just a hobby for me it is a passion;a way of living. And in that I find similarities in Ms. Dandridge. Her work in Carmen Jones changed my life. Not in the corny daytime tv talk show way, but a genuine change that gave me the courage to try my hardest to reach ny dream of becoming a singer. The thing I love most about her is that she stayed true to herself by not letting race issues interfere with her passion, and not settling to be 'just another black act. Because in that time unless you truly proved yourself as an artist with staying power, you were seen as a joke. Having that being said......
