A hero is a person who shows courage and is calm whenever bad things happen. Heroes to me are people who are role models to everyone else.Hero fits a person named Nolan Ryan. Nolan Ryan is a very special person who cares for other people. He was born on January 31, 1943 in Granville, Texas. As a young boy Nolan played baseball, football and basketball. Basketball was his dominant sport until they pitched him. He found his love as a pitcher and that is when his career skyrocketed.

Nolan Ryan showed courage by staying with baseball as a young kid. His dad pushed him many times and was often very mean to him about how and when to play baseball. Nolan always had to work on the farm and very rarely had time for baseball. That is why he shows courage because he always sticks to what his task is at hand. He is a great role model.

Calmness is another thing that he shows. One night in Arlington, Texas the Rangers were playing the Chicago Whitesocks. On a pitch by Nolan Ryan, Robin Ventura charged the mound and started fighting with Nolan. Robin got tossed out of the game while Nolan, staying calm, got to pitch the rest of the game. This is another reason that Nolan is a great role model.

Nolan Ryan is my hero because he fits my definition of a hero. Nolan always shows courage and calmness when bad things are happening. He is an ordinary person who is just out to do good in the world. Many people think that since he is a baseball player, that he tends to be stuck up, but he is not. He is a great role model.
