Michelle

by Madeleine from Woodland Hills

My hero is my best friend Michelle. She is my hero because she helped me through a really rough time in my life. She taught me so many things and has so many great qualities that to me, make her a hero. Even though we started off in a negative situation, we took the time to get to know each other. Now she and I are best of friends. She means so much to me that I would do anything for her. I’m grateful to have met her, and I know that we will be friends forever. To me a hero isn’t someone who has saved the world, but someone who has made a difference, even if it’s a difference in only one person's world.

Before I met Michelle, people I knew, that knew her too, told me a lot of negative rumors about her. Not knowing, they were going behind my back and telling her I talked about her! When we met, I wasn’t sure what to think. Would I like her? Would she like me? I’m glad I did meet her because everything people told me was the exact opposite. She is one of the best people I have ever met. Right off the bat I knew I liked her. Apparently she liked me too. We became great friends right away. It was weird because I never did that with a girl before. Little did I know, she was about to become my hero.

When Michelle and I just met, I had just broke up with my boyfriend. She saw the pain I was in, and took the time to make me feel better whenever I needed it. She listened, and talked to me. She spoke with such wise words, she taught me so much about life, and about myself. We spent hours, even days together talking. We formed such a strong bond; people even started asking us if we were sisters. Her honesty, love, and wisdom are her qualities that make her a hero; my hero.

I never met someone who I became so close with in such a short period of time. I experienced so many life lessons because she helped me see who I really was. I was just stuck in a period of my life where I felt like I wasn’t really living. She’s lived through a lot in her lifetime, and she tells me all about it. Every time we get in a deep conversation, I have always seemed to learn something. She is an amazing person to be around, and after all I’ve been through with her, she has become my hero.
