My hero is Petra Majdic because she's the best Slovenian former cross-country skier. Petra was born on 22 December 1979 in Ljubljana. Her best results were in classic style races. She won lots of competitions, 24 World Cup races, 20 in sprint races, 6 in tour de Ski and also a marathon in Trondheim 2009. She is the first Slovenian cross-country skier to win the World Cup race, first to get an Olympic medal and first to get a medal at the World Championships.

She is the second-most successful sprinter in FIS Cross-country World Cup and the fourth-most successful World Cup competitor of all time. She has also been selected three times for the Slovenian sportswoman of the year. On February 17th in the 2010 Olympics she skied off-course into a 3m deep gully. She broke four ribs, both ski poles and a ski tip. After that she was called a lucky loser because she finished in third place and won a bronze medal.

(WIKIPEDIA) After her recovery she was fit enough to start the season along with other top skiers. Petra retired after skiing on March 20th, 2011, wearing "Goodbye, I love you" on her back. During the same race, Justyina Kowalczyk also appeared with "Goodbye Petra" sign.

Petra Majdic is my hero because she is very brave and she believes that anything is possible.
