My hero is Napoleon. He was born on Corsica in 1770. He had a bad temper and often got in fights. His teachers liked him. He grew up poor but his father was determined to send him to a military academy. He studied artillery at Brianne military college and later became an artillery commander. His first major battle was Toulon. He went to Italy to push back the Austrian empire. His men at the beginning were demoralized and fatigued but after achieving many great victories Moral was high and was experienced combat veterans. He then attacked Egypt in hopes of getting to India so the British would be deprived of India’s resources. But he never made it to India but captured Cairo and found the Rosetta stone which helped decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics, after that he invaded Russia with his grand army which was his greatest mistake. The Russians refused to fight and fled farther into Russia until Napoleons supply routes were unable to reach his army and they starved. Half of his grand army died or deserted. He was exiled to an island but he escaped the island on a ship that was painted to resemble a merchant ship. His last stand was at Waterloo where he was defeated by the British and the Prussians. He lived the remainder of his life on an island called Saint Helen where he died. His final wish was to be laid to rest in Paris. He inspires me to never give up. And no matter who you are you can do anything. And to respect everyone no matter whom they are or where they come from.
