Mory Sanberg

At Francis Parker High School, there was a freshman who we can never forget. Her name is Mory Sanberg, and she has made a big difference in her community. By now, Mory is about 28 years old. When Mory was in high school, she lived in the city of San Diego. Mory's school required their students to do a community service project in order to graduate. Mory's parents encouraged their daughter to make a big difference in her community, and to think of it as a privilege, but Mory didn't know what to do!

If Mory's parents never encouraged her, Mory probably wouldn't have done what she did, or become who she is. Mory, restless and insecure, still didn't know what she was going to do for a community service! But Mory had a passion for helping kids who were in "trouble" for some reason or another. Soon, the decision was made. Mory volunteered to make paper bag dinners for the homeless, and during Christmas, presents and stockings would be made and given to the homeless. Mory told many organizations her idea, and chose The Night Ministry to be her organization because it cherished her excitement and encouraged her keep going and try her best. So, Mory volunteered at The Night Ministry giving them the food, stockings, and gifts she made which would soon be delivered to the homeless by The Night Ministry.

Mory is just so caring. She knows there are people who are suffering, so she made dinner, stockings, and presents. Also, Mory is super determined because she wants to help as many people as she can. Most importantly, Mory is a leader. She led a community service. Starting with help from six of her friends to more than one hundred kids at school, she still kept on leading no matter how hard it was. Finally, Mory is an extremely hard worker. In four summers, more than four thousand bag dinners were made! Over one thousand gifts and holiday stockings were made. But Mory stayed persistent through the whole process.

Mory really made a difference in many people's lives. She gave the homeless people supplies. In honor of Mory's hard work, the Lamplighter Award was given to Mory in 2002 from The Night Ministry. Mory isn't just important to me, but is also important to society. She helped us so much. Now, the homeless are fed, and they have Christmas gifts and stockings, too. Mory is just so incredible. Without Mory, the homeless wouldn't be doing as well, and other people wouldn't follow Mory's example of helping others.

Mory helps me feel better because the homeless are fed and are able to celebrate Christmas with presents and stockings. Mory is also important to the community because she helped all people feel equal. Mory inspires me to try my best, never give up, and always help others. Remember, even if your help is small, it still counts. We couldn't ever forget how Mory gave food and Christmas supplies to the homeless, and how Mory kept going, even through the hardest parts. Therefore, Mory Sanberg is my hero!
