I believe a hero is someone truthful and polite. Someone you can trust and is special to you in some way.

My hero is Martin Luther King Jr. He was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He lived with his mom and dad and brother and sister.

Martin loved to play sports. He played: baseball, wrestling and other sports. Martin was very good at preaching. He preached at his dad's church.

Martin Luther King Jr. hated Jim Crow laws. He led marches protesting against these laws. He led the Civil Rights Movement. He made some of the most famous speeches in history. His best speech is called, "I have a dream." Here is a quote from the speech, "I have a dream that my four little children will live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today."

In October,1965 Martin Luther King Jr. won the Nobel Peace Prize. He was the youngest person to win The Nobel Peace Prize. He won $450.00. In Memphis, Tennessee on April 4th 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed. April 4th Martin's funeral was held. Over 5,000 people came to the funeral.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a famous man. He is my hero by making my life better by making laws fair. Now there is no more segregation thanks to Martin.
