I think a hero is brave, friendly, and puts other people and all living things before themselves. My hero was born in Hollywood, California. My hero is Leonardo DiCaprio.

DiCaprio started to audition for TV shows and commercials in 1988 at the age of 14. When he was 19, he won an Academy Award for best supporting actor in 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape'. One of his big breaks was when Michael Caton Jones cast Leonardo in 'This Boys Life'. This was his favorite acting experience.

I chose Leonardo DiCaprio as my hero because he helps the environment in so many ways and not because he is an actor. He won a Kids Choice Award in 2009 because he helps the environment. He tells people to read the Global Warming section in the newspaper. He makes short films on what is happening on earth. These films are called Water Planet and Global Warning. Water Planet is about Earth's water and how we need to save it. Global Warning is about how people are dumping chemicals into lakes and animals are dying from it.

Leonardo donates money to different organizations like Tree People, Globle Green USA and NRDC. They educate people on how to keep the earth green. They try to change the laws to make them greener and to have people take better care of the earth.

This is why Leonardo DiCaprio is my hero.
