Isaac Newton

by George from Glenbrook Middle School

“All men by nature desire knowledge.”

Isaac Newton is my hero. He has inspired me to follow his footsteps and try my hardest. Newton, the genius of his time, has achieved as I believe the impossible in developing laws and theories that seemed foolhardy in his time. They have been proven right with modern technology. We both share an interest in science and mathematics and wish to learn as much as we can about it. Isaac is influential and he has been inspiring people to perform their hardest and try to make a difference in the world, ever since the publications of his work. Besides being an influential model, he is mentally strong. Having this trait, it enabled him to work his hardest without being distraught. Therefore, as he created the concepts and tools that would be used today. Because Newton possessed these traits, I believe he is the greatest hero who ever lived.

Isaac Newton’s achievements have made a great difference in the world. Not only is his accomplishments still appreciated today, they will most likely be used in the far future. He invented integral calculus, the laws of motion, and universal gravitation. As a student, he made essential contributions to geometry and algebra. Using his discoveries, the world was able to travel to the moon and construct modern buildings. With his reflecting telescope, the world was able to see things they could not before. Also his contribution of the theories on the motion of stars and planets has proven to be very accurate, in addition to his other theories. Being a member of the Parliament, he had a lot of influence. Isaac’s optics and mechanics research, along with all his contributions and discoveries, had brought the world to the state it is in now.

Many would envy such achievements and accomplishments, however, that factor is not the only reason Newton is my hero. Being the prodigy he is since his birth, he has had the intelligence to execute many things ordinary people would not even think to attempt. He has been inspiring, faithful, and “extra”-ordinary in many ways. Newton has not only inspired me to do my best, but has done so to many others as well. Considering the fact that his mother died while he was in college, he was still able to continue his work on alchemy, keeping his head strong with his ability to be strong mentally. Throughout all his time of working on his experiments, he kept faith that he would succeed, giving confidence to others as well as to himself. He was true to his religion, his family, and everyone else he worked with, encouraging everyone to do their best. He always went to church, however, he did not believe in ghosts or God. Surprisingly, Newton was premature at birth, which meant he should have been rather underdeveloped. Isaac Newton was such a man that everyone would want to be.

In addition to his other qualities, he is a hard-worker and he perseveres no matter how difficult the circumstances are. When he was accused of plagiarizing Robert Hooke in a newspaper, one of his competitors in discovering new ideas in science, he continued on with his studies, ignoring rumors. He also kept his work private. He hardly shared his mathematics concepts until later on, around ten years after his discoveries; that’s why many people say he had copied the achievements of others, but, as with all the other cases, he stayed strong. He had earned the title of “justice of the peace.” He had individually solved a counterfeit money crime in England. Despite all the unsuccessful attempts made by others, he had persisted and was triumphant at the end. With these traits, Newton is clearly the best hero.

Isaac Newton, an inventor, a mathematician, and a scientist; he was one of the greatest men to walk the land. Born to a farming family, he had become an accomplished scholar. All his work has made a “mark on the world”, from allowing us to journey to space to allowing us to move at high speeds. He possesses strong characteristics, which include: inspiring, role model, influential, perseverance, hard-worker, and faithful. Due to these traits, his achievements and his great deeds for the benefit of others, Isaac Newton has gained the fame and appreciation of everyone around the world.
