My hero is Helen Keller. I decided to choose Helen Keller because she was the first blind and deaf person to get a college degree. Even if I don't have disabilities like she does, she still did this and it shows me I can accomplish so much more and knowing this also keeps me going because she faced more difficult challenges than I ever will. She is a hero not only to me but, to many others because she has faced challenges that other people couldn't even imagine or couldn't even get through those challenges like learning how to talk with words and through sign language. Her first word was "water". She learned it from Anne Sullivan at a water fountain. I honestly can't even imagine how she completed these challenges without hearing and without being able to see. However, we do have things in common like living in a small town. She lived in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

I would like to be more like Helen Keller by achieving my goals just like she achieved her goals. I believe her goal was to work together so, that everyone can get to their goal and get through their own challenges. So, I think/believe that her quote "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much" was inspired by her goal. In addition, Anne Sullivan helped her learn to communicate and without Anne she would not have been able to learn the things she did. This is another reason I think this is a memorable quote we still remember today.
