My hero George Washington was a great man. He was so outstanding that the people called him the father of our country. He was very brave, he had courage, and he fought for a cause.

George Washington was brave because he did dangerous things like crossing the Delaware River. When he crossed the river it was winter and there were giant ice patches floating in the river. So the soldiers had to push the ice patches out of the way with their feet. Also the Battle of Long Island was a very brave thing that George Washington did. He was up against warships and 20,000 English and German soldiers. One more courageous act that George did was fighting in the American Revolutionary War when he did not have a professional army. George Washington also fought in the French and Indian War. He did not have much experience fighting in wars before the French and Indian War, but this war gave him experience.

One cause that George Washington fought for was independence from Great Britain. George was also known for doing what he thought was right, even during the wars.

The people in the colonies thought that George should be the king but George wanted to have the people vote for who they thought should lead the colonies. So George thought of a leader called the President. The people made George Washington the first president of the United States of America. He won the election two times and they asked him again. But he refused. Then finally George Washington died on December 14, 1799.

These are some reasons why George Washington 'The Father Of Our Country' was a hero and still is my hero.
