Cami Gingerich

by Cade from Tipp City

Cami Gingerich is my hero of her bravery. I will tell you why.

Cami was born on November 4, 2004 in Dayton, Ohio. Before she was born, the doctors found out she had a heart defect. The defect was so serious that the doctor didn't think she would live. When Cami was born the doctors knew she would have to have two open heart surgeries. The names of the surgeries are the Glenn and Fontan. The Glenn came first when she was three months old. That surgery went well and she was in the hospital for nine days.

Her next surgery was the Fontan. That was when she was three years old. That surgery was not as easy it lasted 20 days. When they finally finished the recovery was tough but Cami just kept fighting.

To this day Cami is looking good. You can't even tell she had surgeries. To this day she has to take medicine day and night. She also has to get her blood checked every 4 to 6 weeks. That is why I think she is brave and I am proud to have her as my sister.
