Mrs. Charmane Ayers

by Ashley from Hixson, Tennessee

Mrs. Ayers, Tennessee Hero

My teacher, Mrs. Ayers is my hero. She was born in Princeton, West Virginia. Mrs. Ayers grew up in Princeton, West Virginia and then in Bluefield, Virginia. She attended Knob and Dudley Elementary. Sometimes she went to school with her grandmother who was a third grade teacher.

Mrs. Ayers attended Radford University and majored in Early Childhood Education. After college she taught kindergarten in Tazewell, Virginia. She moved to Roanoke, Virginia and taught kindergarten. She met her husband here and then moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1985.

Mrs. Ayers went back to school and received her master's degree in education. She taught kindergarten for 20 years and 3rd grade for 10 years.

Mrs. Ayers is my hero because she is very positive and nice. She treats everyone with respect. Her goal to be a teacher was to influence others to value education and always treat others with respect. I think she definitely has accomplished her goal. My whole class thinks she is great. She is definitely our hero.
